Great West Farms is a 4th Generation farm located just North of Leduc Alberta. The Centennial Farm was recently acknowledged by the Alberta Farm & Ranch Centennial award for being 113 years old. The farm was first Homesteaded in 1904.
We welcome you to come see the equipment of Yesteryears and see how machinery has changed in 113 years. You will be able to see tractors, plows and other items used back in the day, and compare them to the new modern machinery.
When you are at the farm you will be able to see how free range chickens are raised as they will be mulling about while you are visiting. We will explain where your canola oil comes from and maybe even send you home with a small sample of the oil produced from the canola grown on the farm. We also would like for you to try fresh bread baked in the outdoor clay oven. The flour used in the bread is ground fresh from the Red Hard Spring Wheat the farm also grows.
We hope you can come meet the 3 generations of Schneider’s August 19-20, 2017 weekend and learn about where the grains used at Rig Hand Distillery in Nisku are grown.
We are excited to meet you!
